Cultural Exchange between Chinese

My work schedule has been full of meetings in the past weeks. On Monday morning, I went to Alibaba's office in Hong Kong for a meeting. They're located in Fenwick Road / Gloucester Road with a very good Victoria Harbour view. It's no surprise given their recent highly successful IPO.

Five people were in the meeting - my boss and I + 3 people from Alibaba, altogether 5 Chinese sitting in a meeting room of an indigenous Chinese company. But guess what, the meeting was conducted in English!? I'm sure everybody speaks Putonghua (though my Putonghua is pretty basic), if not Cantonese, well. It's kind of funny to be in that meeting.
