Challenges

It was exactly a year ago when I assumed my managerial role and became the leader of my team at work. I came across an article at that time arguing that the first year of a managerial life is normally the toughest one. Normally 50% of amateur managers will failed that "test".

What about me? I survived my first year but there are some real challenges ahead. I've been a lucky man who is able to solve (or ignore!) many problems. I believe I will survive. Let's see ...

Review of 2007

Unlike many friends of mine, I practically don't review the past. Let bygone's be bygone's. Just like what the all-time-favourite William Hung says "I've done my best and I've no regret." The new year is for us to look ahead for new opportunities and challenges. Let's forget about the past ...

Work-Life Balance

For the past 9 years in my company, I've been working like crazy in different departments with the exception of the half year when I was in Frankfurt for a short posting (that was a wonderful time for me to have more personal time after work to experience my life).

My friends always encourage me to balance my life and to avoid focusing too much on work. I tried. But it's not easy 'cos I feel that I've to spend more time than other people if I want to do well. But I really tried. Like two weeks ago I joined my colleague to play basketball on Saturday evening ... it seems that I don't have much spare time to relax. But where did my time go? How did I spend them? Probably I've to review the way I spend my time to find this out.

Now that there are more challenges and responsibilities ahead, I see a stronger need to have work-life balance. Perhaps apart from the goal to "I'll get the job done", my another goal is to achieve work-life balance. Let's see ...
