My First London Journey (Sept 19 - 22, 2007)

It sounded funny if you know that I only stayed 1 night in London with 2 nights on the plane.

Similar to the previous Frankfurt journey back in July this year, I took a midnight flight from Hong Kong and arrived in the early morning. But the problem this time was that the room was not yet ready and thus I could only changed my clothes without any shower or wash-up before attending the loooong meeting in office. The 2nd difference this time was that I couldn't upgrade to business class and thus you can imagine that a tall boy like me wouldn't have good sleep on the plane.

After the real-long full day meeting, I had chance to stroll around the Oxford Street and Regent Street for an hour - which was nothing if you want to shop around! I then joined colleagues for dinner in local English pub before heading back to hotel.

The next day, I had a full English breakfast in hotel. Did some exercise by walking from hotel to underground with collleagues 'cos no taxi was around in the hotel. It gave me a good chance to try the pretty old London underground. The design of the train is pretty funny - in a round tube shape. Tall people shouldn't stand close to the doors or thei heads will be chopped off when the doors close.

After the half day meeting, colleagues had a Chinese dim sum lunch in the office. Then the Hong Kong crowd (5 people including me) and our Dubai colleague Lavina spent another 2 hours in Oxford Street and the Convent Garden area before heading back to office in which I surfed the web a bit.

That was it! A real short journey.

H&M in Hong Kong

brad's cyberspace, bradford lee, brad lee, lee ka pong, lee ka pong bradford, hong kongI couldn't remember how many times in these few years that I wake up before 9am. Today, I did it. No breakfast, just two glasses of water after I woke up and then I rushed to Central just to be the very first customer of H and M 'cos they open their first store in Asia this morning in Hong Kong.

Being a tall and slim (may I claim to be slim? I wonder) boy, I always find it very hard to buy clothes in Hong Kong. Zara's stuff (and their prices of course!) fits me. I'm sure H and M too 'cos I used to be a big fans of them when I stationed in Frankfurt a few years ago ... I bought quite some clothes during my Worldcup journey last year in Germany and the San Francisco trip back in Oct 2006. So once I heard that H and M store opens today, I've already decided that I'll be here this morning.

This morning is tough. I arrived at around 9:45am ... waited in the loooooooong queue and entered the store at 11am. I myself couldn't believe that I could bear that 1:15 hour standing in the street. Luckily (or you may say unluckily, depending on whether you like shopping or not), menswears are available on the lower ground floor only. So I just spent an hour to walk around. Managed to leave the store at 12:15pm after I surrendered $800 in the cashier.

Unlike the ladyswear section, the menswear section is small. Their spring/summer clothes for men are just ok without big surprises. I like their fall/winter stuff for men though. But it's not the right time to buy those relatively thicker stuff given that I'm a "sweat-man".

From Paris to Hong Kong

brad's cyberspace, bradford lee, brad lee, lee ka pong, lee ka pong bradford, hong kongA few months ago, I was with Chris in Berlin and Frankfurt for the WorldCup.

This morning, I saw a photo on the board standing on my desk ... that was taken in Jan 2005 in a farewell party for Chris who was about to depart for Paris for a two-year posting. He's back. And yesterday I had lunch with him. Does time really fly?
