Mobile Phone

My department offers a service in various trade shows in Hong Kong to assist buyers in identifying right suppliers and products through a mobile matching system ... I took this snapshot several months ago when I saw these PDA phones on a colleague's table ... I thought I was in the Sincere Shopping Mall in Mongkok where people trade 2nd hand mobile phones ... You know what? Although these PDA phones are a bit out-dated now, they once worth over HKD5,000 each and this picture alone shows over HKD20,000 worth of gadgets ... amazing!

By the way, this picture also signify the end of the old brand name of the marketplace I'm working on ... tdctrade.com will no longer exist ... my company is about to be rebranded to HKTDC from April 1, 2008 and naturally the website address will become hktdc.com ... so the lanyard in the picture is getting obsoleted now ... Guess who will be the first beneficiary of this change? Our supplier for lanyard ... they'll be the first one to receive new orders from us!

Random Pictures

(Left) The Angkor beer that I brought back from my Cambodia journey late last year suddenly reappears in the fridge today; (Right) An "enhanced" iPhone being displayed in a mobile phone shop in Shatin. This iPhone replica may not be 100% full features as the original iPhone but it allows users to plug in 2 SIM cards! Much more advanced that then original iPhone in this sense!

Movie Day

brad's cyberspace, bradford lee, brad lee, lee ka pong, lee ka pong bradford, hong kongToday is movie day. I watched the Royale Casino in the afternoon followed by another movie Nana 2 in the evening.

Royale Casino is not as exciting as other James Bond movie. And this Mr. Bond is a new one - Daniel Craig. Some friends say this Mr Craig is not as handsome as previous Bonds while some other say the Bond Lady is not as good. I've no special comments on this. Anyway, the nature of this type of movie makes you feel that you know what is going to happen and therefore you may find this not exciting at all. After all, this is just another 007 movie. One interesting thing that I noticed is that Richard Brandson appeared in the movie for 1 second. If you're going to watch this movie, pay special attention in the early beginning when Bond goes through the X-ray machine in the airport.

Nana 2 - I actually have no idea what Nana is about (and so you know I haven't watched Nana 1!). The reason for watching this movie is purely to try out the brand new open-air theatre - The Drive-in. It is located right next to the Arch (凱旋門) and it opens only in the evening. There are a few American classic cars inside that you can book or you can drive your own car to enjoy movies. They serve snacks and drinks ... people can call a number and then somebody will deliver them to your car. I tried to order ice-cream but they didn't have that today (perhaps too cold to serve ice-cream!). Audio is delivered via in-car radio at FM90 channel (some drawback though 'cos I heard some strange sound. Overall, this is an interesting experience. You can be sure that nobody is going to disturb you with their mobile phone calls 'cos you're sitting in your private space ... and you can talk with your friends as loud as you like.

Crazy Taxi

brad's cyberspace, bradford lee, brad lee, lee ka pong, lee ka pong bradford, hong kong, crazy taxi, taxi driverI've tried a number of times discount-taxi. The drivers normally have 2-3 mobile phones with them to receive calls. Yes when I got into a taxi, I was amazed that the front seat was blocked with a platform on which over 20 mobile phones were placed. I also saw some antenna as well as PDAs, paper for managing his taxi-order business. It is amazing! Isn't it?
